S.T.A.R. Foundation Grant Awarded to NSHS Theatre!

thanksThis is the season to be thankful and NSHS Theatre is incredibly grateful to the S.T.A.R. Foundation of Monterey County. We just got word our $2,000 grant application has been awarded. Wheee!

And what are we going to do with all that money? We are going to purchase materials for set design and construction! Having a stocked shop will enable our NSHS students to harness those essential 21st century theatre skills. Here’s a list of the supplies we plan to purchase:

  • luan, 4X8 plywood & lengths of 1X4s & 2X4s
  • router w/bits
  • safety glasses/goggles
  • work gloves
  • speed squares
  • clamp set
  • miter saw & stand
  • measuring tapes
  • crowbar set
  • chop saw
  • jig saw
  • hardware such as screws, irons, staples, L braces, bits, saw blades
  • pneumatic stapler
  • portable compressor
  • levels
  • impact driver

The S.T.A.R. Foundation has been playing Santa since 2009, and has granted over $650,000.  The Californian reported on the rest of the recipients here. We are so fortunate to live in a community that supports the arts.

Cheers!
