Homeless Teen Project Seeks Donations

1t NSHS Theatre honors its mission to “Celebrate Community One Show @ a Time,” by doing a community service project related to the themes found in our productions. The spring play, The Curious Savage, features a woman uprooted from her home and sent to an asylum with just the clothes on her back. We have many NSHS students who are homeless—living in cars or couch surfing—and lack basic supplies. We will begin to address this by gathering the following items. On April 20th, April 28th we will fill 20 duffel bags and hand them off to Mrs. Guzman, our Community Liaison, who will distribute as needed. Here is what we need to start bringing in:

  • Toothbrushes
  • Deodorant
  • Lotion
  • Tampons
  • Sanitary Napkins [Pads]
  • Socks
  • Sports Bras
  • Underwear
  • Sweats/Yoga Pants [gently used is okay]
  • Hoodies or Jerseys [gently used is okay; NSHS logos preferred…]
    • Undergarment & clothing sizes include Small, Medium, Large & XXL
    • We need women, men & unisex items
  • Notebook w/Pen & Pencil
  • Gum
  • Shampoo & Conditioner [trial sizes are perfect]

We plan to ask our NSHS faculty and staff to help us fill these duffle bags, and invite you to do your part as well. Please be as generous as you and your families can afford. Yes, you may bring stuff in at any time; start now! So what’s in it for you, besides feeling good about doing good for someone else? By bringing in these items, you won’t have to do daily questions! See me for details… Tell us: How can you help? What can you bring?
