Attention 2012/13 students: Our seniors have graduated and the theatre is now actually clean.
While we aren’t in class, true students of theatre are polishing their skills in the real world every day. Nope, theatre skills aren’t limited to our stage or classroom. If you are working a job with the public this summer, if you are teaching Sunday School, if you are playing on a sports team, if you are begging your mom to borrow the car, if you are doing your summer reading assignments, you are using your theatre skills.
Other theatre skills include
- Listening & Speaking Skills: critiquing, persuading, storytelling
- Reading & Writing Skills: advertising, producing, summer reading
- Art & Design Skills: crafting, drawing, painting
As a student of theatre myself, I will be practicing many of these skills. My book list is lengthy and the list of local productions I plan to see is weighty. As for my design skills, I will be busy working on this site, but much of that evidence will be behind the scenes.
So you won’t see many new posts until we resume school in August. But I promise, we have a full year of theatre in the works for the 2013/14 year, so enjoy your sumer and see you soon.
